Panthers to Compete in High Point Autumn Rowing Festival

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University women's rowing team is set to open competition on Sunday, October 5 at the High Point Autumn Rowing Festival hosted by Triad United Rowing.

"As we head into year two the team is excited to build upon the foundation we laid last year," Head Coach Jessica Deitrick said. "We have welcomed 13 first years to the team who have joined the family and are excited to build with us. As we head into our first regatta we feel grateful to have the opportunity to race international crews on our home waters. We look to build upon our results from this weekend to lead us into a strong season."

At Oak Hollow Lake in High Point, the Panthers will launch their second season on the water, aiming to build on their inaugural campaign and contend for a Mid-American Conference Championship this spring. The 2025–26 roster features 13 freshmen alongside 21 returning student-athletes.

The Panthers will compete in three races this weekend, beginning at 11:00 a.m. against Edinburgh University, followed by a 2:00 p.m. head-to-head race with the University of Oxford. These two races give HPU the opportunity to share the water with two of the world's most renowned rowing programs as they kick off their season.

The last race for HPU will feature Duke University, Edinburgh, and Oxford, in a 300-meter sprint to the finish line. The race is scheduled to begin around 2:40–2:45 p.m

Parking is available for the general public in the park for a fee of $10 per car on Sunday. CASH ONLY. No charge on Saturday.  (This fee covers the police presence on the street and Fire Dept safety on water).

Entry to the park is FREE to all spectators. Dogs on a leash are welcome. There will be multiple food trucks on site. Gates will open on Sunday morning at 7:00 AM.

ENJOY SUNDAY RACING FROM THE COMFORTS OF THE REGATTA LOUNGE:  The Lounge will be open for guests to watch the races in comfort, enjoy coffee, pastries, lunch and alcoholic refreshments throughout the day. Enjoy a glass of champagne or the signature Regatta cocktail while watching the races and making new rowing friends. (Must be 21 to enter). Opens at 8am for coffee and pastries
