NICHOLS HILLS, Okla. — Three High Point University women's golfers are participating at the 10th U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball Championship on May 10-14.
Sofia Benavides-Herberth,
Aubri Braecklein, and
Savannah Cherry will be the trio representing the Panthers in the tournament played at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club in Nichols Hillis, Oklahoma.
Benavides-Herberth and Braecklein qualified in the fall at the Hot Springs Country Club in Hot Springs, Arkansas, where the duo shot a 4-under-par 68 to qualify for the USGA Four-Ball Championship.
In the summer of 2024, Cherry became the first Panther to make the semifinals as she received an exemption into the 10th U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball due to her previous finish. Cherry and her partner, Lauren Slatton, won consecutive playoff holes to advance in the Round of 32 and 16 before playing 20 holes in the quarterfinals to make history with a semifinal appearance.
Benavides-Herberth just graduated with her master's degree at HPU, while Braecklein finished her junior year and Cherry completed her freshman season. The trio will now represent the Panthers on the amateur stage.
