CHARLOTTE, N.C. — High Point University's Makayla Grubb has earned a weekly honor for the ninth time this season as she was named the Big South Conference Freshman of the Week on Thursday by the league office.  

It is her seventh Big South Freshman of the Week accolade to pair with two Big South Golfer of the Week awards.

Grubb tied for third out of 90 competitors at the Terps Invitational (par 72, 6,244 yards) with a 1-over 217 (75-72-70) for her fifth Top 5 standing of the season. She improved each round and moved up 11 spots on the leaderboard following her final round 70, which included four of her eight overall birdies. Grubb was 3-under on the par-5 layouts, and led the Panthers to a fourth-place finish behind Virginia (No. 37), Kentucky (No. 33) and host Maryland in the 16-team field.

Next Up: The Panthers head to the Big South Championship now from April 19-22 in Fripp Island, S.C.
