PHILADELPHIA, Pa. / CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The High Point University women's track and field team split up and competed at two meets over the past three days. A select group of athletes opened the weekend at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania while another group of athletes competed at the Charlotte Invitational.
At the Penn Relays,
Alyssa Hendrix and
Charli Montalvo kicked off the meet with late night races on Thursday night. Hendrix posted a new personal best in the women's 3000m steeplechase with a 10:09.64 time for eighth place overall. She was .5 seconds off from the program record. Montalvo later competed in the women's 10,000m and placed ninth overall with a 34:21.43 time.
On Friday, the women's 4x100m relay team placed first in the prelims to qualify for the finals on Saturday. In the finals, the team consisting of
Ashari Pearson,
Dae'Nitra Hester,
Gianna Paul and
Quiana Williams race in the pouring rain and clocked a 46.19 time to take home the first-place title.
The women's 4x800m relay team posted a strong race on Saturday afternoon and broke the High Point and Big South record recording an 8:44.14 time. The relay team consisted of
Evie Wild,
Mikayla Moxley,
Nikki Frail and
Brianna Malone.
At the Charlotte Invitational,
Elise Magaard and Jill Stroup represented High Point in the throwing events. For Magaard, she competed in the women's discus on Friday and placed 11th throwing 40.53m. On Saturday, Magaard placed 13th in the women's shot put with an 11.87m mark. Stroup competed in the women's hammer throw and placed 12th after throwing 49.78m.
Addison Freeland and
Moriah Evans competed in the women's javelin and placed second and fifth respectively as Freeland threw a season-best 39.77m and Evans threw 37.26m.
In the other field events at Charlotte,
Auriane Viola and
Lily Houston each cleared 3.92m in the women's pole vault section A to place in fourth and fifth respectively.
On the track,
Shauna Skow and
Lauren Vossen opened Friday night in the women's 3000m steeplechase. Skow recorded a new season-best time with an 11:30.14 time and Vossen recorded a personal best 12:08.21 time.
Anna Ritter closed out Friday night on the track in the women's 5000m race and clocked a 17:28.42 time.

High Point will next compete at the Aggie Classic hosted by NC A&T and the Duke Twilight meet at Duke University. The Aggie Classic will go from May 2-3 while the Duke Twilight will be a single-day meet on May 4.
