HIGH POINT, N.C. - High Point University's
Nevaeh Zavala has been named the Big South Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Zavala averaged 18.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in two games for High Point, highlighted by a double-double performance and game-winning free throws with 0.5 seconds remaining in a double-overtime victory over Yale University. The senior shot 52.0 percent from the field (13-of-25), 40.0 percent from three-point range (4-of-10) and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line (6-of-9). She totaled 15 points at Davidson before recording 21 points and 14 rebounds against Yale, becoming the second Big South player this season to post a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double.
High Point returns to action on December 31 to start the conference slate by hosting UNC Asheville for a 2:00 p.m. tip.
