HIGH POINT, N.C. – For the first time in program history, the High Point University women's basketball team has earned a ranking in the College Insider Women's Mid-Major Top 25, checking in at No. 14 with 270 total points.
High Point jumped out to a program-best 8-1 record, averaging 78.6 points per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field and holding opponents to just 60.7 points per contest. The Panthers currently lead the Big South Conference in both scoring offense and field goal percentage.
HPU's early success stems from contributions up and down the roster and has been powered by several standout performances. Junior guard
Macy Spencer has broken out as one of the nation's top shooters and currently ranks sixth in the NCAA in three-pointers made (31). As a team, the Panthers rank 47th nationally in scoring offense and 43rd in field goal percentage.
Aaliyah Collins has also been a major key to High Point's fast start, averaging 16.2 points per game, leading the Big South with 42 assists, and a conference-best .508 field goal percentage.
Continuing its non-conference schedule, HPU will return to the court on Friday, December 5, at South Carolina State University with tip off set for 11:30 a.m.
