CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Brianna Malone and
Olivia Purdy, of the High Point University women's cross country team, have received Big South Conference honors after competing in the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pa. Malone wins her second Big South Runner of the Week award as Purdy also wins her second Freshman of the Week honor.
Malone placed 24th overall with a time of 20:21.2 and was just three seconds away from placing inside the top-20. The junior ran ahead of runners from the likes of UConn, Army, Penn State, and Villanova. Malone's pace sat at just over three minutes and thirty seconds per kilometer.
Purdy receives her second Freshman of the Week honor after running a time of 21.57.3. Purdy placed 277th out of over 1,300 collegiate runners across multiple races on the day. The Michigan native has been dominant to start her collegiate career and looks to stay strong heading into the last meet before the conference tournament.
UP NEXT: High Point will compete next in Charlottesville, Va., in the Panorama Farms Invite on October 17 hosted by the University of Virginia.
