BOONE, N.C. - In the opening race of the 2024 season, the High Point Women's Cross Country team
placed seventh at the Covered Bridge Open, hosted by App State. The Panthers were led by freshman
Reese Bradbury in her High Point debut.
Head Coach Remy Tamer: "I thought that the women who had the opportunity to race today showed a mixed bag, and I think they would agree. It wasn't from a lack of effort, but more decision making and applying themselves strategically throughout the 5000 meters. That being said, I think there are some promising performances from several returners. They've been working over the summer, so they've made progress in an event slightly longer than their specialty. And then, of course, we had a freshman,
Reese Bradbury, our top runner and finisher. And although I think that she would agree, she left a little bit out there... there's a little bit more to be uncovered. It's a nice first race for her in her college career, and she will have a very bright future for us."
Bradbury was High Point's top finisher, coming in at 18:42.61 for a top-25 finish after hanging with the front group for most of the race. Junior
Mikayla Moxley came in as the second panther at 19:47.09.
Senior
Nikki Frail and Junior
Lauren Vossen came in shortly after, at 19:57.06 and 20:09.76, as the third and fourth Panthers of the race while
Evie Wild finished her first race in an HPU jersey with a time of 21:33.24.
UP NEXT: On Friday, September 20th, the Panthers split and head to Raleigh, NC, for the Adidas XC Challenge and Minneapolis, MN, for the Roy Griak Invitational.
