Big South Announces 2024 Volleyball Postseason Awards

Coach Meek Named Coach of the Year, Dylan Maberry Named Player of the Year, Schilling Named Libero of the Year & Davis Named Newcomer of the Year

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced the annual All-Conference awards for the 2024 season. Six Panthers were honored for their performances this season, as head coach Ryan Meek was announced as the Big South Coach of the Year for the fifth time in his seven seasons at the helm.

Ryan Meek – Coach of the Year
In his seventh season at the helm, Head Coach Ryan Meek has been named the Big South Coach of the Year for the fifth time. He led the Panthers to a 21-6 overall record and a 13-1 conference record during the 2024 season. This season was Meek's sixth 20+ win season (17-1 during the shortened Covid-19 season), since taking over at the helm in 2018 and led the program to its fifth consecutive Big South regular-season title.

Dylan Maberry – Player of the Year | First Team All-Conference
The graduate student earned her third Big South Player of the Year award, becoming the only player in HPU program and conference history to win the award three times after leading the conference in points and kills, totaling 457.5 points (4.57 p/s) and 405 kills (4.05 k/s) on a .229 hit percentage. She appeared in 100 sets and recorded a season-high 23 kills versus Princeton, 15 digs at Winthrop, five aces versus UNC Asheville and five total blocks versus Western Michigan. She added 249 digs (2.49 p/s) and 39 blocks on the defensive end and served in 31 service aces which was fourth in the conference. During the season, Maberry was named the Big South Player of the Week on four occasions for her outstanding performances.
 
Jordyn Schilling – Libero of the Year | First Team All-Conference
Schilling appeared in 100 sets during the 2024 campaign and led the team in digs totaling 491 (4.91 p/s). She recorded a career-high 29 digs at Winthrop. She also contributed 133 assists and led the conference in service aces with 47, registering a career-high six aces against USC Upstate. Schilling was named the Big South Libero of the Week two times during the season.
 
Arica Davis – Newcomer of the Year | Honorable Mention All-Conference
Davis transferred to High Point from Minnesota for the 2024 season. Over her 97 sets played in, she led the conference in blocks totaling 125 (1.29 b/s) and recorded a season-high 13 blocks against Southeastern Louisiana, breaking the HPU program single-game record. She also added 160 kills (1.65 k/s) in the middle on a .283 hit percentage and added 14 service aces, 11 assists and 59 digs.
 
BayLea Sparks - First Team All-Conference
Sparks appeared in 92 sets during the 2024 season and totaled 161 kills (1.75 k/s) with an impressive .402 hit percentage to go along with 102 blocks (1.29 b/s) to finish second in the league in blocks. As a threat in the middle on the block, she tied the program record for single-game blocks with 13 against USC Upstate. Sparks also tallied 10+ kills in three matches including a career-high 13 kills against Winthrop. She was named the Big South Player of the Week one time during the season.

Eve Wilson - Honorable Mention All-Conference | All-Academic Team
Wilson finished the 2024 regular season totaling 169 kills (1.86 k/s) and 79 blocks (0.87 b/s), appearing in 91 sets. She recorded a .311 hit percentage on the right side and knocked in a season-high 14 kills against Ohio after going 14-for-25 for a .520 hit percentage. Wilson recorded a season-high nine blocks at USC Upstate. She also contributed 13 service aces and 55 digs. 

Allie Gray - Honorable Mention All-Conference
Gray finished the 2024 season appearing in 88 sets as one of the Panthers' setters. She finished third in the conference in assists with 648 (7.36 a/s), recording a season-high 52 assists versus Southeastern Louisiana. She dished out 30+ assists in 11 matches. She totaled 19 kills, 166 digs (1.88 d/s), 18 blocks and nine service aces. Gray was named the Big South Setter of the Week following her strong performance in the first week of the regular season.

High Point will play the winner of the 4/5 seed matchup on Saturday, November 23rd in the Big South Semifinals inside the Millis Center. The first serve is set for 3:00 p.m.
