After minimal action in the first two innings, High Point got things rolling in the top of the third. Josh Deslauriers earned a spot on first with a single up the middle, for the Panthers second hit of the game. Javon Fields moved Deslauriers to second after working a walk. Chatham brought in the first run of the game with a line drive out to right center field. Following Chatham's hit, Stuart drilled a three-run homer over the left center field to help HPU take a 4-0 lead.

The Phoenix did not stay scoreless long, a throwing error by the Panthers defense after the second out in the bottom of the third led to Elon first run of the game. The phoenix added another run in the bottom of the fourth after a balk by HPU's pitching staff.

The Panthers kept the bats rolling with four straight singles. A deep single into left field from Chatham scored High Point's fifth run of the game as Stuart followed up with a single up the middle to score two more, extending the lead to five.

The Phoenix answered the five-run lead with hits in the bottom of the fifth. A single and a double scored two to cut the game to 7-4, with HPU still holding onto the advantage.

Earning his third hit of the game, Chatham hit another shot through the left side to round Ahalt home. High Point kept the offensive engine rolling, scoring three more runs in the top of the seventh to tab their second, four run inning of the game. Back-to-back hits from Miggy Echazarretta and Blake Sutton contributed to the runs. High Point advanced on an 11-4 lead.

After Elon hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh, Ahalt returned the favor with his own two-run homer, knocking out his 11th of the year.

Everett Vaughan closed out the game on the mound, only allowing one run off three hits.

Up Next: The Panthers remain on the road for a weekend series at Big South opponent Winthrop University. The series is set to start on Friday at 6:00 pm.
