Box Score HIGH POINT, N.C. — The High Point University baseball team competed against the Buccaneers of Charleston Southern in the final game of the series. After going down two early in the third inning, the Panthers bounced back with a 7-1 run and secured the series sweep with a 7-3 win.

Javon Fields led the way for the Panthers, each with a multi-hit game while Fields rocked a single-run homer.

Howell Polk started on the mound for the Panthers in his first start of his HPU career. After a quiet first two innings, Charleston Southern loaded the bases with two outs. A throwing error by High Point led to a two-run lead for the Buccaneers.
In the bottom of the fourth, Stuart reached base on a single into no man's land in left field. A perfect bunt down the third base line from
Patrick Matthews moved Stuart over to first but an overthrow by CSU's catcher advanced Matthews to second and Stuart home. Matthews tagged up on second on a fly out to left center field and advanced to third with ease. A single to left field by
Miggy Echazarreta tied the game at two all.
Making moves in the bottom of the sixth, HPU placed runners on with two walks. A hit deep into the short stop gap by
Josh Deslauriers resulted in two runs scored for the Panthers after another overthrow by the Charleston Southern short stop.
High Point added a run in the bottom of the seventh with a single RBI home run from Fields over left center field. The ball left the field with an exit velocity of 107 miles per hour, traveling 385 feet.
Fields kept his hitting momentum alive in the bottom of the eighth with a two RBI double into left center field. The Panthers advanced on a 7-2lead entering the ninth inning.
Reid Viar finished the game on the mound and contributed to the first two outs with a 1-6-3 double play. CSU managed to score one run before the final out with a single RBI home run.
