Box Score ROCK HILL, S.C. — The High Point University baseball team returned to action with the Eagles of Winthrop on Saturday afternoon. After coming up short on Friday night in the bottom of the ninth, HPU rallied back in game two with a 6-1 win.

Through the opening three innings, the Panthers registered two hits, both from the roommates,
Cael Chatham and
Brett Ahalt with a double and single respectively.
The Eagles tacked on a run early in the bottom of the first with a single RBI home run over right field. On the mound for HPU,
Brett Wozniak kept putting in work recording three strikeouts after three innings.
After turning the double play in the bottom of the third,
Adam Stuart and
Miggy Echazarreta carried it over at the plate. Stuart up first, opened the top of the fourth with a single to left center field. Stealing second base,
Patrick Matthews laid down a sacrifice bunt to more Stuart to third. A single to left center field by Echazarreta scored High Point's first run of the game. Two balks and a wild pitch rounded Echazarreta from first to home to make it 2-1 with the Panthers first lead of the game.
In the top of the sixth, Stuart squeezed in a home run just fair of the left field foul pole to extend the lead to 3-1.
Bats stayed rolling in the top of the seventh as the Panthers scored two runs off two hits. Pinch hitting for
Josh Deslauriers,
Charlie Klingler sent a shot into the deep left corner for a ground-rule double. With
Cole Singsank on third ahead of Klingler, Ahalt brought in both runs with a hit down the third base line. Chatham closed out the bottom half of the inning with a single for a 6-1 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh,
Blake Sutton's hard working effort cam into full force, preventing Winthrop from scoring a run after getting in a run down with the runner on third. Tracking him down, Sutton laid out and tagged the runner before the runner could return to the base safely for out number two.
Braden Halladay closed out the game on the mound for HPU allowing no runs and no hits.
