DURHAM, N.C. – High Point University track and field athletes were back for day two at the Duke Invitational.
Olive Allen just missed a personal best in the 1,500m run, finishing in 4:30.36 among top competition of the invite section of the event.
Lindsey Ickes finished fourth in the women's 5,000m run, also just off her personal best. Ickes crossed the finish line in 16:31.99 while her current best time and school record, set during the indoor portion of the season, sits at 16:26.90. Her time is currently ranked 49
th in the NCAA East.
In field events,
Julia Newman and
Kelly Chaballa finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the javelin. Newman threw for 32.29m while Chaballa finished with a mark of 32.22m.
On the men's side,
Reid Holloway, Nick Lourenco, and
Adam Craig finished fifth, sixth, and eighth, respectively, in the pole vault. All three vaulters cleared 4.75m, but were placed based on prior misses.
