Box Score HIGH POINT, N.C. – High Point University baseball hosted Elon University on Tuesday night. After a back-and-forth battle, the Phoenix took the game 7-3 in the ninth inning.

Moving along quickly through the first three innings, High Point took an early lead in the bottom of the second. A strong hit up the middle from
Cole Singsank contributed to the run, allowing
Adam Stuart turn and burn and make it home.
Starting on the pitch for the Panthers,
Sean Duffy allowed no hits for the Phoenix through the first three.
Elon made moves in the top of the fourth, scoring two runs off three hits. Barely staying in fair territory, the Phoenix tied the game 1-1 with a homer just over the left field fence. A sacrifice fly gave the Phoenix the one run game.
Keeping Elon on their toes, High Point returned the call in the bottom of the fourth. Taking advantage of some fielding mistakes by the Phoenix, the Panthers took the lead back, scoring two runs off two hits. A big hit from pinch hitter
Miggy Echazarreta scored the first run. After loading the bases from a walk, a balk by Elon's pitcher scored the Panthers second run of the inning to take the 3-2 lead.
Holding the Phoenix to just two hits through three innings,
Braden Halladay dominated on the mound with three strikeouts allowing one run from the 13 batters faced before subbing out in the top of the eighth with two outs.
Elon found the sweet spot and went back on top with three runs scored on two hits. A two-run homer over right center field gave the Phoenix the 4-3 lead before a single made it a two-run game.
In the top of the ninth, the Phoenix went on to extend their lead to four adding two runs from a throwing error by the Panthers. With one more opportunity for the HPU to close the gap, the Phoenix secured the 7-3 win with three straight outs.
