CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Three High Point University field athletes earned weekly award nods from the Big South Conference on Wednesday afternoon (March 29th). Following weekend performances at the Weems Baskin Invitational,
Nick Lourenco and
Anjali Mead were tabbed the league's Men's and Women's Freshmen of the Week, respectively, while
Alicia Dawson was named the Women's Field Athlete of the Week.Â
Nick Lourenco, Big South Men's Freshman of the Week
Lourenco finished ninth in the men's pole vault with a mark of 4.57m at South Carolina in the second outdoor meet of the season. Lourenco and two other Panthers finished in the top-10 of the men's pole vault invite.Â

Alicia Dawson, Big South Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Dawson finished in the top-10 in two events in Columbia, winning the triple jump and placing sixth in the long jump. Her mark of 11.92m won the triple jump by over 20 centimeters as she secured the victory.Â
Anjali Mead, Big South Women's Freshman of the Week
Mead finished 10th in the women's pole vault invite, clearing 3.80m to finish in the top-10 among athletes from Virginia Tech, College of Charleston, Charlotte, and Marshall.Â
