HIGH POINT, N.C. — The High Point University men's and women's track and field teams kicked off the outdoor season with its annual Bill Webb Combined Events/Bob Davidson Memorial Invitational at Vert Stadium Friday.

The Panthers saw multiple student-athletes finish atop their events, while a handful posted personal bests and another claimed a new program record.

In the women's hammer,
Amanda Scattergood tossed it 42.81m while
Letizia Jessica Marsico threw a new personal best 41.38m. The women's pole vault group B saw
Kaitlin Richards (unattached) leading the way with a 3.20m clearance for third place, while
Kylie Skie jumped to 3.05m and
Emma Grace cleared at 2.90m.

HPU had three women competing in the 5000m.
Anna Ritter clocked 17:40.60 for a second-place finish; meanwhile
Alyssa Deeds crossed sixth at 17:52.05 and
Charli Montalvo finished at 18:33.43.

After four events of the women's heptathlon — combined with the 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put, and 200m —
Lilly Wolf sits in third place with 2,418 points. Freshmen
Marietta Valente and
Amelia Moreland combined 1,863 points and 1,659 points, respectively.

HPU was well-represented in the men's 5000m with three Panthers in the top four.
Hunter Steinau crossed first at 14:40.02 as teammate
Ian Miller was on his heels at 14:43.55.
Spencer Smucker clocked in at 15:00.97, good for fourth place. Jake Fiorillo finished in eighth at 15:20.42 as
Klaus Mangeot finished at 15:37.42 and
Ben Dertinger clocked at 16:05.40.

In the men's hammer,
Alex Hoffman threw a new school record 53.04m toss for sixth place. Jake Morgan took first place in the men's pole vault group B with a 4.52m clearance. The 3000m steeplechase saw four Panthers compete as
Jake Tarosky claimed first with a time of 9:23.25 while teammate
Aiden Morrison followed at 9:42.80. In fifth place,
Kyler Koning crossed at 9:52.18 and Evan Millis was next at the 10:00.69 minute-mark.

The men's javelin had two Panthers in the top 10.
Ryan Tenor Jr. was eighth with a 53.95m toss and
Evan Mills was 10th with a 52.44m throw.
Kolt Byers registered 49.26m delivery,
Felix Leblanc's throw measured at 46.38m and
David Caivano's landed at 45.02m.
