Head Coach Chelsea Banbury: "This one feels good. This is our fourth year playing Wofford in a row and the first win. Our girls came out and executed a game plan. I would say it is probably the most complete game we have played so far. Defensively, I think we made them frustrated at times and then offensively, with 80 points and 19 assists. I think when you move and share the ball its fun to play. Our girls were doing that tonight.
The story of the night was McNear; she not only had a career high 14 rebounds but also had three blocks and seven points.
"I think Amaria made a difference on the defensive end," said Banbury. "Disrupting shots and plugging up the paint. She finished with 14 rebounds and got us eight second chance opportunities."
Claire Wyatt was a huge part of the Panther offense tonight. Wyatt dropped 19 points, draining three 3-pointers and went a perfect 2-2 from the line.
In front of her family,
Lauren Bevis showed out on the court. Bevis tallied for 21 points, draining five three pointers and bodied for five rebounds. Bevis started to turn it up in the second half as she was dropping three pointers back-to-back like it was her job.
"I have to get in the flow," said Bevis. "It's just all about confidence. I might miss a couple, but once I see one go in, it gives me a lot of confidence. I'm never going to stop shooting the ball and my teammates know that, and I don't want them to ever stop shooting the ball."
As a team, HPU combined for 43 rebounds, 19 assists, 11 blocks, four steals, and went a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line.
Up Next: High Point will fly to the U.S. Virgin Islands on Tuesday to participate in the Paradise Jam Tournament. The first game is slated for Thursday, Nov. 23 at 6:45 p.m. against South Florida.
