RALEIGH, N.C. – The High Point University men's soccer team record a scoreless draw in Raleigh Tuesday night.
Site: Dail Soccer Field
Score: High Point 0, NC State 0
Records: High Point (7-2-4, 4-0-1), NC State (6-8-1, 1-5-0)
Head Coach Zach Haines: "It was as strong of a performance as we can ask for, especially when you factor in a quick turnaround and on the road against an ACC program. Our guys were excellent in every phase of the game. They are playing with a great deal of confidence and know the momentum will continue if we keep working and striving to improve. They are not happy at all with a draw based on how the game went, and I know we will be as hungry as ever to take the next step in getting wins when we bring this level of play. Saturday is a great opportunity to do so."
The first half of the match started with both teams playing each other evenly. Good defense led to minimal chances for both the Panthers and the Wolfpack. High Point had two early corner kicks in the 8th minute but could not draw it up the way they wanted to.
Jefferson Amaya recorded both shots on goal in the first half.
The second half got underway, and
Anthony Ramirez found a lane while firing a shot off that was saved by the keeper in the bottom center on the net.
Alex Abril took the only other shot on goal in the second half.
Josh Caron in net for High Point recorded three saves on the night.
Up Next: High Point will travel to Asheville, N.C. for a Big South Conference matchup with UNC Asheville on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 6 p.m.
