Head Coach Zach Haines: "Great win tonight, a very good performance. We were in control from start to finish. We did a nice job with staying patient. Presbyterian did well, they worked very hard, were good defensively and organized. We never got frustrated, we just kept going. As they wore down in the second half, we felt a goal coming. We did a nice job of taking care of it. The corner kicks have been good to us this year, we took care of the game after that in terms of managing it and making sure we didn't give up any opportunities."
The first half of the game was somewhat even. Both teams had chances but the defense on both sides were able to step up big time when the time came. High Point ripped five shots in the first half to Presbyterian's three.
Josh Caron got the start again tonight. He didn't see much action in the first half. The Blue Hose were able to sneak one shot on goal off a free kick. Caron saw it perfectly and jumped up to snag it out of the air to bat it down.
High Point wasted no time in the start of the second half. The Panthers were making Presbyterian's keeper work tonight.
Jefferson Amaya lined up for a free kick in the 52nd minute and fired one right to the top of the net. James Dee went airborne to just get a finger on the ball sending it out of play.
The clock was winding down into the last 15 minutes of play. The score was still 0-0, High Point was trying to get something to stick as they kept finding openings to score.
In the 76th minute,
Jefferson Amaya stood behind his corner kick ready to send it into the box. He did just that as McRobb came running in to meet the ball in the air heading it across the goal. This was a much need breakthrough for High Point to give them the 1-0 lead.
"Jeff's been having great balls all season, said McRobb. I managed to get a few so far and luckily, I was able to get there and put it on frame. We also got the win tonight so that's the most important thing."
McRobb's game winner was his fifth goal of the year. High Point stays atop the Big South leader board as they improve to 4-0-0 in conference play.
HPU outshot Presbyterian 16-9 and 3-2 on corners.
