HIGH POINT, N.C.—High Point University men's track & Field won the 2022 Big South Championship in thrilling fashion winning by one point. The Panthers bested NC A&T one of the favorites to win the 2022 NCAA Outdoor National Championship and the indoor National Runner-Up. HPU scored 178 points beating the Aggies by one as they scored 177.

Head Coach Mike Esposito: Every single point counts, every single effort counts, we wanted to have excitement and just feel like little kids. I am very intune with the points and we were bleeding a little bit, we kept placing sixth. Terris Burton stopped the bleeding then the men's 5000 did their job the the 4x4 made it a little dramatic but I can't say enough about my staff, our kids, and our support staff.
Panther Performances
- Hocine Bouchrak finished second in the men's 1500 m with a time of 3:45.15, while teammate Graham Ferguson finished in sixth with a 3:56.69.
- The men's 4x100 m team placed fifth with a time of 40.63.
- Kolt Byers recorded a personal best in the men's high jump with a mark of 2.04 m, placing him in fourth, Dekairi Brown also recorded a personal best with a mark of 2.01 m, giving him a sixth place finish.
- Deron Dudley placed sixth in the men's 100 m with a time of 10.35 and seventh in the men's 200 with a mark of 21.00. Gabriel Ludwick also finished sixth in the men's 800 m with a time of 1:52.79.
- In the men's 400 Hurdles, Terris Burton II finished in fourth place with a personal best time of 51.28.
- Bouchark finished third in the men's 5000 m with a time of 14:24.75. Hunter Steinau recorded a time of 14:39.20 and placed fifth, while Spencer Smucker finished eighth with a time of 14:54.26.
- The HPU men finished fourth in the 4 x 400 relay to clinch the Big South Championship finishing in 3:12.65.
