Dudley and Bouckrak Break School Records in the 100m Dash and the 3000m Steeplechase at Virginia Challenge

CHARLOTTESVILLE, V.A. — High Point University Track & Field finished two days of competition at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, VA. One of the highlights for the Panther men this weekend was Deron Dudley, who broke the school record in the 100m dash with a time of 10.27. Dudley broke Evan Emery's mark of 10.31 seconds, which had stood since 2012. Dudley finished in fourth place in the event in which all top five finishers were within a tenth of a second of each other. Dudley currently sits at 24th in the East Region in the event. Dudley finished in tenth place in the 200m dash as well. Another highlight was Hocine Bouchrak breaking the school record in the 3000m steeplechase. 

Bouchrak ran a time of 8:37.00 to finish second in the event and break the school record by over 4 seconds. 

Bouchrak's time currently sits in a tie for 2nd in the East Region.      

Panther Particulars

Terris Burton II set a season-best mark of 51.96 to finish in second place in the 400m hurdles. 

Burton's time currently sits in 31st in the East Region.

Freddie Allen III set a season-best in the long jump with a mark of 7.55m to finish in ninth place. Allen's mark currently sits in 34th place in the NCAA Region.  

Chris van Niekerk threw a season-best mark of 18.12m to finish in sixth place in the shot put. Van Niekerk's mark currently puts him in 25th place in the East Region.

The Panthers 4x100m relay team finished in sixth place with a time of 40.70.  

Hunter Steinau finished in fourth place in the men's 10,000m run with a time of 30:24.56.  

Jonny House finished in third place in the men's 800m run at the Aggie Classic with a personal best time of 1:52.19. Also at the Aggie Classic, Alex Hoffman finished in fourth place in the hammer throw with a mark of 48.55m.  

Lastly, the HPU assistant coach Scott Houston won the men's pole vault invitational at the Virginia Challenge clearing a mark of 5.41m. HPU alum Austin Miller finished in third place clearing a mark of 5.21m.

 UP NEXT

The Panthers will send their squad down I-85 to compete in the Charlotte Invitational hosted by UNC-Charlotte on April 29th and 30th.  This will be the final weekend meet of the regular season for the Panthers.
