COLUMBIA, S.C.—High Point University Track & Field finished two days of competition in Columbia, South Carolina at the South Carolina Invitational. HPU competed against Allen, Anderson University, Benedict College, Bethune Cookman, Brewton-Parker College, Campbell University, Charleston Southern University, Claflin University, College of Charleston, Columbia College, Columbia International, Converse College, East Carolina, Edward Waters University, Embry-Riddle, Emmanuel College, Emory University, Erskine College, Florida International University, Fort Lauderdale, Furman, Hampton University, High Point University, Johnson C Smith, Lenoir Rhyne, Limestone University, Mercer University, Meridian Community College, Mississippi College, Norfolk State University, North Greenville University, Queens University of Charlotte, Savannah State University, Shorter University, South Carolina, Southern Wesleyan University, USC Upstate, VCU, The Citadel, UNC Charlotte, Waynesburg, Western Carolina, Wingate, Winthrop, Wofford. The South Carolina Invitational for the Panther women was highlighted by
Deron Dudley who posted two top ten finishes over the weekend including being the top collegiate finisher in the men's 60m dash.
Panther Particulars
Dudley continues to progress this indoor season. On Friday night he was the top collegiate finisher in the 60m. He made it to the finals of the 60m and then ran a time of 6.77. In the 200m on Saturday Dudley finished 8th with a time of 21.57.
Chris Van Niekerk 18.28m finished first in the shot put. Van Niekerk finished fifth in the men's weight throw with a throw of 16.09m.
Freddie Allen finished third in the long jump with a mark of 7.28m
Austin Miller and
Scott Houston finished one and two in the pole vault invite competing unattached. Miller posted a mark of 5.56m and finished first. Houston was second with a mark of 5.46m.
Kolt Byers finished 11th out of 22 in the high jump with a mark of 1.85m.
Alex Hoffman finished seventh in the weight throw with a mark of 15.22m.
Larry Coaxum went 14.04m in the triple jump and finished 14.04m.
Young freshman
Gabriel Ludwick continues to make waves in his first collegiate track season. The once already Big South freshman of the week won his heat in the mile finishing first with a time of 4:18.
High Point's men finished third in the distance medley relay with a time of 9:57.61. The relay team consisted of
