LYNCHBURG, Va.—The High Point University track team travels to Liberty for the second time this season this time for the Brant Tolsma Invitational. The event is named after Liberty's coach of 34 years Brant Tolsma. This will be the first back to back weekend of competition this season for HPU.

Panthers to Watch for in Lynchburg
Panther Distance is back
After wrapping up cross country season at the end of November Panther distance is back this weekend. HPU will see the return of Ashley Jones in the 3000m she will be joined by most of her teammates. Tessa Webb, Anna Ritter, Madeline Quinn, Sydney Bagus, Alyssa Deeds, Tatum Castillo, Julianna Higgins will all be in 3000m and making their 2022 indoor debut. Hannah Brookover and Lindsey Ickes will be back in action for their second time this indoor season and will be in the mile on Saturday. Camryn Harper, Olive Allen, Franzi Jakobs, Lilly Fowler, and Castillo. Hocine Bouchrak will be in the mile, he will be running alongside Lorenzo Botter, Gabriel Ludwick, and Chase Barajas. In the 3000m it will be, Hunter Steinau, Kyler Koning, Patrick Kelly, Jack Lasalla.
Pouncin' Panthers
The women's vault should be exciting once again this weekend after Sydney Horn posted the fourth best mark in the nation. Mackenzie Horn had a good day as well and will look to build off that momentum this weekend. Mackenzie jumped 4.09m last Saturday.
Alicia Dawson will be jumping again this weekend in both the triple and long jump while Larry Coaxum will be jumping in both of those events as well on the men's side. Freddie Allen will be back in action in the long jump. Allen currently has the 48th best long jump mark in the nation with a mark of 7.34m he will look to improve upon that and climb up in the rankings this weekend.
Panther Alum Austin Miller has been one of the bright American male pole vaulters this winter as he went 5.70m outdoors in Phuket, Thailand as part of the Golden Fly series. Miller went 'Pole Vaulting in Paradise' in Key West going 5.61m. He looks to stay hot as he will be competing in the men's vault at Liberty.
Last Weekend's Headlines
Sydney Horn cleared her biggest bar of the season so far in just her second time jumping in the 2021-22 season last weekend at Virginia Tech. Sydney cleared 4.34m which puts her in tremendous position to again qualify for the NCAA Indoor National Championships. For perspective, she punched her ticket a season ago with a mark of 4.33m.
The Panther Men saw a program record broken twice on Friday night in Blacksburg last weekend as Deron Dudley ran the 60m prelims in 6.76 then one-up-ed himself in the finals going 6.74 and finishing second overall.
