BLACKSBURG, Va. – The High Point University women's track and field team traveled to Blacksburg, Virginia to compete at the Virginia Tech Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

HPU Director of Track & Field Mike Esposito: "We have something special so far as a program and I have my coaching staff to thank for that. Cole, Ricardo, Ashlyn, and Justin had exceptional weekends. We have a special group of young people who truly buy in, and expect to do great things. Our focus moving forward is to get and keep everyone healthy, while staying grounded and staying where our feet are one day at a time."

Ashlyn Giles set a program record, throwing a 15.98m in the women's shot put, breaking her own record she set earlier this season. Giles also set a personal best in the women's weight throw with a throw of 16.79m.

Dae'Nitra Hester posted a season best time of 55.42s, winning the women's 400m race.

In the women's pole vault, Emily Romano finished third with a height of 3.94m. Grady Moyer won the unseeded women's pole vault with a height of 3.74m.

Alyssa Hendrix and Danielle Jensen represented High Point in the women's one mile. Hendrix finished in third place with a time of 4:59.12 and Jensen finished in fifth place with a time of 5:03.89. 

In the women's 200m race, Kendall Hicks finished with a personal best of 24.92 crossing the finish line in fifth place.
