EVENT INFO
Mon.-Wed., May 10-12 -- NCAA Regionals (Columbus, Ohio)
Live Scoring | The Ohio State Golf Club

For the first time in program history, a member of the High Point University women's golf team will be competing in the NCAA Regionals as graduate student Samantha Vodry tees it up at the Ohio State Golf Club's Scarlet Course Monday through Wednesday (May 10-12) for a chance to move on to the NCAA Championships.

The Lineup/Field
There are 18 teams competing in each of the four regional sites across the country. Duke is the top seed in Columbus, followed by Arizona State, Virginia, Kent State, Georgia, Vanderbilt, Michigan, Clemson, Oklahoma, and Kentucky in the top 10. Two more schools from the Tar Heel State will also be playing in Ohio as Coastal Carolina and Big South champs Campbell were selected to the regional as the Nos. 15 and 16 seeds, respectively.

Vodry is one of six individuals competing on the Scarlet Course after earning an at-large bid through the selection process. Leah Onosato of Old Dominion is the top-seeded individual at the site followed by Monika Hartl of N.C. State, Nicole Adam of North Carolina, Vodry, Roy Weinfurther of Richmond (Patriot League individual qualifier), and Maria Loza from Hartford (MAAC individual qualifier).

The Ohio State Golf Club
The Ohio State Golf Club is located just off of the campus of Ohio State and features the Gray and Scarlet Courses. The Scarlet Course is a par-72 that will play at 6,335 yards for the championships and was designed by world-renowned architect Alister MacKenzie - the designer of Augusta National and home of The Master's Tournament - and was completed in 1938. It was later renovated and redesigned by legendary golfer and former Buckeye Jack Nicklaus in 2006.

Format and Schedule
Three rounds of 18 holes separate the top six teams and three individuals from advancing to the NCAA Championships in Scottsdale, Ariz. The action gets underway on Monday (May 10), with Vodry slated to go off the back at 11:40, and continues with rounds starting around the same time on Tuesday (May 11) and Wednesday (12). The top six teams and top three individuals not on those six teams after 54 holes will have their tickets punched to the NCAA Championships from May 21-26 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale.

Making History
Vodry is the first golfer in HPU women's golf history to make the NCAA Tournament with her selection. She was also just the second golfer in either High Point men's or women's golf history before the school added a third when Brandon Einstein was selected on the men's side a week after Vodry had her name called.

Regionally Speaking
This is the third time Vodry has played in an event at the site of a Big Ten school after playing in the Nittany Lion Invitational, hosted by Penn State each of the previous two seasons. Vodry finished in a tie for 51st in the first Nittany Lion Invitational and tied for medalist honors last year in the 2019-2020 season with a 214. The NCAA Regional will also be the first time an HPU has competed in a collegiate event in the state of Ohio.

Records Galore
Vodry holds five career records at HPU, including wins (four), rounds in the 60s (nine), rounds of par or better (28), eagles (10), and birdies (318). This season she had an average score of 72.59 and a to-par average of 0.59, both of which are the best marks of any golfer in a single season in program history. She fired three of the nine-lowest individual rounds in program history this season and holds a total of four of the nine-lowest rounds in her career. Vodry's 65 in the final round of the River Landing Classic this year is the second-lowest 18-hole score the program has seen and she has six of the 10-lowest 54-hole events.
