- The series is even tighter in conference matchups, with the Purple and White leading by a single game, 31-30. Radford holds the edge in the series in High Point, up 17-16, while HPU does slightly better when playing in Virginia, with a 15-13 record on the road.
- The teams played a weekend series at Williard Stadium earlier this year, with Radford taking all three games in a weekend sweep.
Across the Diamond
- Radford is 16-14 overall on the season and one of just three teams in the Big South with a winning record.
- The Highlanders enter the weekend even in conference play at 10-10 to sit one spot above HPU in the standings. Radford has some of the best plate discipline in the conference, leading the Big South with 148 bases on balls.

- Sean Cheely is the only Highlander hitting over .300 on the year with a team-leading .308 average. Cheely also leads the team in hits (37) and doubles (10), is tied for the team lead in home runs (3), and is second on the team in RBIs (19).

Panther Notes
Last Time Out
High Point played its first games in 10 days on Tuesday and lost a midweek matchup at Campbell, 16-8. The Panthers led by four in the first inning thanks to a grand slam from
Adam Stuart before a seven-run sixth inning for the Fighting Camels gave Campbell the lead for good.
Â
Grand Salami Time
Stuart's grand slam was the first slam that HPU has hit since the 2018 season when Austen Zente hit one in a loss to Wake Forest on May 15, 2018.
Â
Analytically Speaking
Starting pitcher
Grey Lyttle and left fielder
Joe Johnson were both named in the top 100 draft-eligible pitchers and hitters, respectively, by D1 Baseball according to their analytic process last week. Lyttle was ranked as the 51st-best pitcher in the rankings while Johnson checked in at 69th in the hitting ranks.
Â
Not so Lyttle
Lyttle finds himself second in the Big South and 77th in the country in total strikeouts after nine starts with 59 on the season, including a season-high nine against Asheville. Lyttle is averaging 10.2 strikeouts per nine innings, which is the third-best in the Big South.
Â
A Trio in Double Digits
With
Cole Singsank picking up his fifth three-hit game of the season against Campbell on Tuesday, he became the third Panther this season to have double-digit games with multiple hits. Johnson and
Peyton Carr lead the way with 11 each while Singsank now has 10, with his five three-hit performances the most games of more than two hits among the Purple and White this season.
Â
Hopping on the Cole Train
After going hitless in his first five games of the season, Singsank has played his way into the starting lineup and has recorded a hit in 17 of his last 21 games. He leads the team with a .356 batting average and .444 on base percentage and is second on HPU in hits (32), RBIs (19), and doubles (8).
Â
Going Streaking
Singsank leads the team with an 11-game on-base streak and has a five-game hitting streak. Johnson also enters the weekend with hits in his last five games while
Sam Zayicek has a team-high six-game hitting streak currently - tied for the longest of his career.
Â
Russell Up Some Feathers
Ryan Russell led the Panthers offensively in their first game against Longwood, going yard twice in the game and chipping in a double to finish with three hits and as many RBIs. It was the third time this season that a Panther has hit multiple home runs in the same game, the first time three players have had multiple home runs in the same game since the 2018 season.
Â
29
In the first game of the series with Longwood, the Panthers hit nine doubles in the 12-2 win, matching the program record from the 2020 season opener against Lafayette. Carr, Singsank, and Stuart all had two doubles in the game, and Russell,
Blake Sutton, and Zayicek each had one.
Â
Seeing Double
Jonhson has hit 12 doubles this season, the second-most in the Big South by one and the 34th-most in the country. He averages 0.43 doubles per game to lead the conference and sit 21st in the nation. As a team, High Point averages 1.79 doubles per game for the second-best average in the Big South.
Â
Going Yard
The Panthers have gone deep four times in their last four games, with the home runs coming from Russell, Carr, and Stuart. Russell had two solo shots in the first game against Longwood and Carr added a two-run homer in the second game while Stuart hit his grand slam in the last outing against Campell. High Point has 19 home runs on the season to sit fifth in the Big South.
Â
Magic Johnson
Johnson had one of the best single-game performances for the Purple and White this year on April 6 against Elon. The graduate student from Benson, N.C. had two doubles, one RBI, and a home run in four at bats against the Phoenix. Johnson is one of HPU's leaders offensively with a .318 batting average and a .444 on base percentage and is tied for the team lead in homers this season with five.
Â
Yo Pearre, You Wanna Come Out Here?
Brady Pearre had one of the Panthers' top performances this season in the first game at Charleston Southern to start April, going 4-4 with two walks. The four hits are a career-high and he also drove in two runs in the game, including his third home run of the season, and came around to score three times in the game.
Â
Double Trouble
The Panthers have turned 18 double plays so far this season, the fifth-most in the Big South.
Â
WHIP it Real Good
HPU is second in the Big South in WHIP entering Friday, allowing 1.44 walks and hits each inning pitched, second only to USC Upstate. Lyttle continues to lead the Panthers in WHIP with a mark of 1.10, also the second-best in the conference.
Â
Making the Sacrifice
High Point has hit 15 sacrifice flies this season, the fourth-most in the Big South and 69th-most in the country. Individually, Carr has hit three for the fourth-most in the conference.
Â
Â
Up Next: High Point returns home to Williard Stadium for its first and only home game in the month of April on Tuesday (April 27) when UNCG visits for a 6 p.m. matchup.
