Panther Notes
Last Time Out
High Point has had over a week off after last week's midweek matchup against Elon was canceled due to a scheduling conflict. In HPU's last action on the diamond, the Panthers took two of three from Longwood.

Russell Up Some Feathers
Ryan Russell led the Panthers offensively in their first game against Longwood, going yard twice in the game and chipping in a double to finish with three hits and as many RBIs.

Magic Johnson
Joe Johnson had one of the best single-game performances for the Purple and White this year in the last midweek game against Elon. The graduate student from Benson, N.C. had two doubles, one RBI, and a home run in four at bats against the Phoenix. Johnson is one of HPU's leaders offensively with a .311 batting average and a .430 on base percentage and is tied for the team lead in homers this season with five.

Not so Lyttle
Grey Lyttle finds himself third in the Big South in total strikeouts after eight starts with 56 on the season, including a season-high nine against Asheville. Lyttle is averaging 11.7 strikeouts per nine innings, which is the best in the Big South.

29
In the first game of the series with Longwood, the Panthers hit nine doubles in the 12-2 win, matching the program record from the 2020 season opener against Lafayette. Peyton Carr, Cole Singsank, and Adam Stuart all had two doubles in the game, and Russell, Blake Sutton, and Sam Zayicek each had one.

Seeing Double
Jonhson has hit 11 doubles this season, good enough for second in the Big South and 53rd in the nation.

Going Yard
The Panthers have gone deep four times in their last four games, with the home runs coming from Johnson, Russell, and Carr. Johnson capped off his incredible batting display against Elon with a solo shot in the seventh inning, Russell went yard two times in the first game of the series against Longwood, and Carr hit a two-run shot in the second game against Longwood.

Yo Pearre, You Wanna Come Out Here?
Brady Pearre had one of the Panthers' top performances this season in the first game at Charleston Southern to start April, going 4-4 with two walks. The four hits are a career-high and he also drove in two runs in the game, including his third home run of the season, and came around to score three times in the game.

Double Trouble
The Panthers have turned 18 double plays so far this season, the fifth-most in the Big South.

WHIP it Real Good
HPU is second in the Big South and 86th in the country in WHIP entering Tuesday, allowing 1.40 walks and hits each inning pitched, second only to USC Upstate. Lyttle continues to lead the Panthers in WHIP with a mark of 1.02, second-best in the conference.

Getting Offensive
High Point put up 31 runs in the four games last week, with a pair of double-digit run games. The Panthers have 238 hits so far and have scored 145 runs this season.

Going Streaking
Singsank leads the team with a 10-game on-base streak and has a four-game hitting streak and picking up a hit in each game last week. Zayicek has a better hitting streak by one game for a team-leading five games in a row with a hit.

Limiting the Hitting
The Panthers only give up 8.31 hits per nine innings, the second-best mark in the Big South and 71st-best in the nation. High Point has held opponents to five or fewer hits five times and has only allowed double digits six times.

Making the Sacrifice
High Point has hit 15 sacrifice flies this season, the third-most in the Big South and 62nd-most in the country. Individually, Carr has hit three for the third-most in a conference.

Up Next: High Point continues its road trip with a weekend series at Radford. The teams will play a single game Friday evening (April 23) at 6 p.m. before playing a doubleheader on Saturday (April 24) starting at 1 p.m.
