Panther Notes
Last Time Out
High Point was swept this weekend against Gardner-Webb in a rain-altered series. Friday's game went off without a hitch before the first game of Saturday's doubleheader was suspended in the third inning due to lightning in the area. The decision was made to suspend it overnight five hours later, resulting in a total delay of just over 22 hours before play resumed on Sunday, with the first game finishing and the second game taking place in its entirety.
So Fresh and So Clean
Redshirt freshman
Cole Singsank was named the Big South Freshman of the Week for the week of March 29. Singsank leads the Panthers with a .333 batting average in 57 at bats.
Not so Lyttle
Grey Lyttle finds himself second in the Big South in total strikeouts after six starts with 45 on the season, including a season-high nine against Asheville. He's racked up the 45 Ks and issued only seven walks for a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 6.43, the third-best in the conference while his 45 strikeouts are the 35th-most in the country.
Turning Two
HPU has turned 15 double plays on the year to lead the conference and sit 63rd nationally.
Seeing Double
High Point is fourth in the Big South in doubles hit this season, with 31 two-bag knocks this year. The Panthers ended their nine-game streak of doubles in their first game of the series versus Gardner-Webb. Additionally, the Purple and White have picked up an extra-base hit in all but four games this season, slugging .361 as a team.
Hopping on the Cole Train
Singsank had a hit in each of the first two games of the Upstate series to extend his hitting streak to a career-best seven games before losing it in the series finale. He totaled 12 hits in the seven games with five doubles and four RBIs.
Going Yard
The Panthers have gone deep 3 times in their last 4 games. Homeruns came from
Ryan Russell,
Joe Johnson, and
Adam Stuart. Johnson and Stuart both homered in the win against Campbell while Russell's two-run shot came in the most recent game against Gardner-Webb.
Carrving them Up
Freshman

He currently has seven multi-hit games on the season, the second-most on the team, while also sitting second on the team lead in home runs with three.
Home Run Parade
The Panthers held a home run parade in the first game of the doubleheader against UNC Asheville, trotting around to home four times in the contest after not hitting one heading into the weekend. Bryan Woelfel pitched for the first time this season. Garcia pitched 2.2 innings and allowed no hits to the eight batters he faced while Woelfel was called upon to get the final out of the game.
