The High Point University's women's lacrosse team (1-5) continues its spring break road slate with a short trip to Durham to take on #1 Duke (4-2) at 7:00 PM on Thursday (March 11th). The Panthers challenge the Blue Devils on the road following a hard-fought contest against Vanderbilt last time out. HPU will now be playing Duke on national television as the game will be broadcast at 7:00 pm on the ACC Network.
Matchup History
This will be the fourth meeting between Duke and HPU. Duke leads the series 2-1. The last time the two teams met was inside Vert Stadium where HPU defeated a #19 Duke team 16-12. Then freshman Abby Hormes led the way with six goals to lift HPU to a 16-12 win.
Across the Bench
- Duke is off to a 4-2 start and has already played three ACC games. They are 1-2 in the conference. The Blue Devils are coming off a 15-5 loss to ACC opponent Syracuse.
- Duke is led in scoring by Katie Cronin, she has 12 goals in just six games all off the bench.
- The head coach of Duke is Kerstin Kimel who is the only head coach in Duke history, she has been at the helm for the Blue Devils since 1996.

Hormes Making History
Against Vanderbilt on Sunday Abby Hormes scored to give HPU the lead 3-1. The goal was her 149th career goal which makes her the program leader in goals scored as she passed High Point great Erica Perrotta. Hormes had three goals and an assist against the Commodores. Over the two games, Hormes scored six goals and three assists for a total of nine points over the week. Hormes was named this week's Big South Offensive Player of the Week.
Ms. 200
Abby Hormes picked up her 200th career point against Davidson last week. The senior is currently second all-time in points with 205.
Panthers Win 50-50s
High Point is third in the nation in ground balls this season as the Purple & White have scooped up 132 on the season.
Mena Helps
Mena Loescher leads HPU in assists with ten helpers on the season. Loescher is fourth in the Big South in assists with ten.
Drawn to SuccessÂ
Megan Nerney already has a team-leading 28 draw controls through three games. Ashley Britton has 27 draw controls on the year while Abby Hormes has 23. The Panthers have three players with 20 or more draw controls.Â

Britton is tied with Abby Hormes in goals with 18 on the season. Britton is making the most of her fifth season as a graduate student with an impressive stat line she has 18 goals, an assist, 12 groundballs, and 27 draw controls.
