Building off a Fantastic Freshman Year
That is exactly what Sydney Horn will be looking to do as she will be back in action for the Liberty Kick-off after earning All-American honors at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor national championships. Her indoor personal best is 4.41m (14' 5.5") which she set in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the Indoor NCAA National Championships in 2021. Nine of those athletes return to HPU this season, seven of them will be in action in Lynchburg as Sydney and Mackenzie Horn, Nathalie Elliott, Nyile Facey, Alicia Dawson, Chris Van Niekerk, and Terris Burton II will all compete at the Liberty Kick-Off. Another Panther regional qualifier will be in action up in Boston in Hocine Bouchrak.
Brookover's Panther Debut
Dec. 4th at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston will mark the debut of Hannah Brookover. Brookover is a distance transfer from Wake Forest who spent the fall running unattached. She won the VertCross. Brookover ran 9:28.70 in the 3000m finishing 14th at the NCAA 2021 Indoor Championships.
