HIGH POINT, N.C.-- On Friday, January 8th, High Point University women's lacrosse Head Coach
Lyndsey Boswell announced the promotion of volunteer assistant coach and former High Point women's lacrosse senior captain
Darla Poulin to assistant coach.
"I am so excited to announce the promotion of Darla as our full-time assistant coach," Coach Boswell said. "I am lucky to have been Darla's coach for her four collegiate playing years, and I feel even luckier to have her on staff, and as an extension of my family. Darla proved to be one of our hardest working players in her time here, and she is bringing that same drive to our staff. She is reliable, resourceful, diligent, and carries an extreme passion for our program, culture, and every individual that steps into our locker room. I look forward to mentoring her, and watching her blossom this season, and hopefully several more to come."
Poulin is entering her sixth season with the Panthers, she played for four years and is in her second year as a coach. Poulin holds the program record for most game-winning goals in a single season as she scored six in 2017. She also had 79 points in 2017 which is the fifth most in a single season. Poulin was named to the All-Big South Tournament Team in 2017. Poulin spent her first season as a coach for the Panthers last season in 2020.
"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to return to my alma mater, Poulin said. "It's a great honor to coach alongside Lyndsey and Kelly, two amazing women and mentors. I look forward to giving back to such an incredible program and university."
Poulin played for HPU from 2015-2018. She was a junior when current 2021 Captain
Ashley Britton was a freshman. Both were members of the 2017 team that defeated Towson in the NCAA Tournament for the first NCAA Tournament win in High Point University Athletics history. The duo spent two years together as teammates and will now spend two years together as player and coach.
"Darla was devoted to High Point when we were teammates, and she remains just as passionate now, Britton said. "Her respect and patience for us as players mixed with her competitive drive and knowledge of the sport is unmatched. She made history when she was on the field and I know she will help us do the same now as our coach!"
