CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Big South Conference announced the Big South Women's Cross-Country All-Decade team presented by Hercules Tires on Monday afternoon (June 1).
Keaton Case,
Zoe Geis, and
Famke Heinst were the High Point runners selected to the All-Decade Team while current High Point head coach
Remy Tamer was selected as the Coach of the Decade. Tamer, Case, Heinst, and Geis were all members of the 2017-2018 teams that won two championships.
Keaton Case | Springboro, Ohio | 2015-2018
Case earned all-conference honors three times. She was the 2018 Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Her highest Big South Championship finish came in her senior season in 2018 as she placed 7th with a time of 18:32.7. She placed 81st at the 2018 NCAA Southeast Regional Championships.
Zoe Geis | Center Valley, PA | 2016-2019
Geis earned all-conference honors every single time she competed at the Big South Championship. She finished 2nd at the 2019 Big South Cross Country Championships with a time of 17:43.5. She placed 30th at the 2019 NCAA Southeast Regional Championships.
Famke Heinst | Gelderland, Netherlands | 2017-2019
Heinst is a three-time individual Big South Champion. She earned the honor of Big South Runner of the Year three times. She has never lost a Big South race. Heinst received USTFCCCA All-Southeast Region honors in 2018 and 2019. She placed 13th at the 2018 NCAA Southeast Regional Championships as a sophomore. In her junior year, she finished top ten as she placed 10th at the 2019 NCAA Southeast Regional Championships.
Big South Coach of the Decade
Remy Tamer | 2016-2019
Tamer became the coach of the High Point women's cross-country team in 2016. In 2016 Tamer and the Panthers finished as runners-up in the Big South Championship. In 2017 Tamer led the Panthers to their third Big South championship in four years, his first. Tamer and HPU are currently on a three-year streak of winning the Big South championship with titles in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Tamer has been named the Big South Coach of the Year three years in a row (17, 18, and 19)
Women's Cross-Country All-Decade Team candidates were determined based on being at least one of the following: 1) Was a multiple All-Conference honoree; 2) Was named an All-American; 3) Is a member of the Big South Conference Hall of Fame; 4) Student-athletes must be a college graduate or in good academic standing with their respective institution; 5) Won a Conference Championship as a coach and/or was voted Conference Coach of the Year. Candidates that participated in two different decades were placed in a specific decade based on consultation from member institutions. Member institutions also had final determination in regards to inclusion of student-athletes and coaches. Previous Women's Cross-Country All-Decade Teams were recognized for the years 1986-89, 1990-99 and 2000-09.
The selections were decided by the current Big South Hall of Fame Committee, Big South administrators, and a fan vote that counts for 20 percent of the overall total.
