On this day 20 years ago the High Point University baseball team won its 1,000th game in program history. 2000 was the first season of NCAA Division I baseball for the Panthers but the Purple and White have been competing since 1933. HPU entered its D1 tenure with 988 wins to its name and picked up the 12th win the Panthers needed to hit the 1,000 mark with a doubleheader at home against UNC Asheville. High Point lost the first game but came back to win game two, 3-1 to add another digit to its win total.
