The High Point University baseball team (7-8) continues its homestand with an inter-Triad battle against UNCG (11-4) on Tuesday afternoon (March 10). It's the final midweek game for the Panthers before Big South action starts this weekend.

Matchup History
- Tuesday is the 30th meeting between High Point and UNCG since HPU became a Division I program in 2000.
- The Spartans lead the series 18-11 in the previous 29 games and have gotten the better of the Panthers at Williard, leading 8-5 in High Point.

Panther Notes
- High Point took the series against James Madison last week, winning a series against the Dukes for the first time in program history.
- Sophomore Brady Pearre had a big weekend against JMU, going 6-12 with a pair of home runs in Friday's game, becoming the first Panther to hit multiple home runs since the 2018 season.
- Joe Johnson hit two doubles in Friday's game to bring his season total up to six, tied for the most in the Big South and 56th in the country. The senior also got the win on the mound in Sunday's game, allowing one run on just three hits with four strikeouts and one walk.
- The Panthers' pitching staff has the third-best strikeout per nine innings ratio of teams in the Big South, entering the midweek game with a mark of 9.6.
- The Panthers have turned 13 double plays this season, second in the conference and tied for 33rd in all of Division I.
- Freshman Mason Kearney picked up his second weekly award from the Big South on Monday (March 9), being named the Big South Relief Pitcher of the Week.
- Kearney came on with two outs in the sixth inning of Sunday's game with the tying run at the plate and needed only 30 pitches to get the final 10 outs of the game while not allowing a single baserunner.

- UNCG is 11-4 on the year and is coming off a four-game sweep of Maryland Eastern Shore.
- The Spartans outscored the Shore Hawks 43-14 over the weekend, scoring 26 runs in the first two games and eight or more in all four.
- UNCG won a marathon game with Appalachian State on March 1, getting the 8-7 victory in 15 innings to avoid being swept by the Mountaineers.
- Pres Cavenaugh has the best batting average on UNCG, hitting .444 entering Tuesday. Caleb Webster is right behind him with an average of .383 and leads the team in hits (23) and RBIs (13).
- Zack Budzik is a menace on the basepaths, already with 12 stolen bases on the year, in just 13 attempts, tied for the fourth-most in the country.
- Austin Koehn has pitched 17.1 innings over four appearances for UNCG and has given up just two earned runs for an ERA of 1.04. Austin Parsley has come out of the Spartan bullpen six times this season, allowing four runs on eight hits and five walks in 19.1 innings of action for a WHIP of 0.68 and ERA of 1.86.
