Matchup History
- Saturday's contest marks the fourth all-time meeting between High Point and the Gators, with Florida winning all three matchups.
- The school's most recent clash was last season, a nail-biting 16-15 UF win at Vert Stadium. Abby Hormes tallied four goals while both Ashley Britton and Mena Loescher registered hat tricks on the day. Rachel Foster found the back of the net once as well.
- In 2013's inaugural game, Florida defeated the Panthers 13-7 in High Point.
Panther NotesÂ
- Both Meredith Chapman and Abby Hormes rank 13th in the country in caused turnovers per game with just over two.
- With her goal last game vs Towson, Ashley Britton extended her goal streak to 33 straight games. The streak dates back to the third game of her sophomore season.
- HPU is second in the Big South in draw controls, winning over 45% per game.
- Abby Hormes was selected to the Tewaaraton 2020 watch list. She is the second woman in program history to ever receive this recognition. She joins Erica Perrotta, who was chosen in 2018.
- HPU currently ranks 18th in the country in caused turnovers, causing 11 per game.
- Abby Hormes is just one goal away from moving into second place all-time in Panther history. She currently sits at 128, just below former HPU standout Mackenzie Carroll who scored 129 in her career.
- In the season opener, freshman attacker Jenna Harms gathered four ground balls. This is the most by a freshman field player in a season opener in High Point University history.
- Seniors Ashley Britton and Meredith Chapman earned Big South honors in the seasons opening week. Britton was named Offensive Player of the Week after a five-goal effort, while Chapman was selected as Defensive Player of the Week after causing four turnovers and earning four draw controls.
- HPU's season opening victory gave goalkeeper Sarah Zeto the 16th win of her career, giving her sole possession of fourth all time in program history. She passed former Panther Lauren Hayes.
- The 2020 season will begin Lyndsey Boswell's tenth season at head coach for the Panthers. Entering the weekend HPU is 124-53 under Coach Boswell's direction, including three straight NCAA Tournament appearances and three straight Big South regular season and tournament championships. Â
