Matchup History
- The two teams have played each other seven times before, with the last meeting coming in 2010.
- Towson was one of the first opponents the Panthers played as a Division I team, with the schools splitting a doubleheader in March of 2000.
Panther Notes
- High Point split its midweek games this week, defeating N.C. Central on Tuesday before falling to No. 13 North Carolina on Wednesday.
- HPU's 4-1 start to 2020 is tied for the program's best start in its Division I history.
- Senior Joe Johnson had a big day at the plate on Tuesday, hitting his second home run of the year as part of a three-RBI performance.
- Adam Stuart also went yard against the Eagles on Tuesday, hitting a home run for his first career hit.
- Junior Travis Holt is the only Panther with double-digit hits on the season, with 11 already to his name through the first five games.
- Sam Zayicek and Mason Kearney both picked up weekly awards from the Big South this week, with Zayicek named the conference's Player of the Week while Kearney earned Freshman of the Week honors.
- Last weekend's starters are projected to go again this weekend, led by Harrison Smith on Friday, followed by Nick Hernandez and Johnson
Across the Diamond
- Towson finished last season 14-39 and had only played one series this year, being swept by Old Dominion - High Point's season-opening foe from last year.
- The Tigers only scored five runs in the series with ODU, all coming in a 9-5 loss in the first game.
- Burke Camper leads Towson in batting average and hits, hitting .333 with four base hits on the season. He also leads the team in strikeouts, sent down on strikes seven times entering the weekend.
- Brandon Austin is the only Tiger with multiple RBIs, bringing home two runs in Towson's season-opener.
- All three of the Tigers' projected starters also started last week, each taking the loss.
- Nick Ramanjulu came out with the best ERA of the three, only giving up two earned runs in 4.2 innings of work for an ERA of 3.86.
Up Next: High Point hosts N.C. Central next Tuesday (Feb. 25) in a rematch of this week's game before heading to the LeClair Classic in Greenville, N.C. next weekend to face Ole Miss, Indiana, and East Carolina.
