The High Point University volleyball team (20-11, 12-2 Big South) opens play in the 2019 Big South Tournament against Campbell (16-12, 9-5 Big South) Saturday night (Nov. 23) at 7 p.m. in the semifinals of the tournament. The Panthers entered the tournament as the No. 2 seed, earning a bye from last night's quarterfinals.

Tournament History
- HPU is 12-17 all-time in the Big South Tournament. Nine of those losses came in the first nine years the Purple and White were in the conference, with High Point going 12-8 in the past 11 years.
- The Panthers have come away with the Big South Tournament Championship three times, first in 2010, and then twice in the last three years, winning in 2016 and 2018.
- High Point is 0-1 against the Fighting Camels in the Big South Tournament, losing in the first round in straight sets in 2015.
- The Panthers swept Campbell in the season series this year, winning both matches in straight sets. HPU is 21-13 against The Fighting Camels all-time and is currently riding a six-match winning streak.

Panther Notes
- Four Panthers picked up a combined nine Big South awards last week, led by Kaley Rammelsberg being named the Freshman of the Year, the fourth time in the last seven years a member of the Purple and White has taken home the award.
- Rammelsberg was also named Second Team All-Conference and was named to the All-Freshman Team after leading the Panthers with a .342 hitting percentage, third-best in a season for High Point and second-best in the conference.
- Junior Abby Bottomley was named First Team All-Conference as well as the Big South's Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
- Bottomley led the Big South in total digs and digs per set, entering the weekend ranked eighth in the country in total digs and 10th in digs per set. She has 609 digs on the season so far, good for fifth-best in a single season among Panthers and can move into third place with 21 more this season.
- Megan Kratzer and Annie Sullivan joined Rammelsberg on the All-Freshman Team and were both Honorable Mention All-Conference Players.
- The two were the only Panthers this year to record 20 kills in a single match, with Sullivan doing it early against Villanova and Kratzer reaching 20 against Radford twice.
- The duo collected Big South Freshman of the Week honors four times among them and Sullivan picked up High Point's only Player of the Week distinction this year.

Across the Bench
- Campbell entered the tournament as the No. 3 seed and defeated UNC Asheville in straight sets Friday night (Nov. 22) to advance to the semifinal.
- Sophomore Sarah Colla was named First Team All-Conference for the Fighting Camels. She led the conference in points, averaging 4.65 points per set. Colla was also Campbell's representative on the All-Academic Team.
- Libero Elysse Gross was named to the All-Freshman Team after finishing third in the conference with 4.60 digs per set.
- The Fighting Camels are now 6-11 in the Big South Tournament and have made two appearances in the championship match (1989, 2015). Campbell has gone 4-4 in the tournament under head coach Greg Goral, including finishing runner-up in 2015.

If High Point wins Saturday night, it will advance to the championship match on Sunday (Nov. 24) against either Winthrop or Presbyterian. The Panthers are 3-1 in Big South Championship matches and have won two of the last three championships. First serve in the championship is slated for 4 p.m. and can be seen live on ESPN3.
