History vs. UNCG: High Point and UNCG have crossed paths numerous times in recent years, most recently a 1-0 victory for HPU last season at Williard Stadium. The Panthers and Spartans met just once last year after opening the season against one another in 2015 and 2016.

HPU enters Tuesday's matchup looking for its first triumph at UNCG Baseball Stadium since Feb. 26, 2014. The Panthers have dropped their last two games in Greensboro.

The Spartans: UNCG comes in boasting a 16-6 mark after a series victory in its SoCon opener this past weekend against VMI. The Spartans' lineup consists of six regulars with batting averages of at least .360 and two over .400. As a result, UNCG is second in the nation in team batting average at .341 and fourth in hits with 276.

Cesar Trejo is fourth in the NCAA with a .476 average, posting 15 extra-base hits with 30 RBI. He leads the Spartans in hits (40), doubles (8), triples (3), RBI (30), and total bases (66).

PROBABLE PITCHERS
• High Point: The Panthers have not yet named a starter prior to Tuesday's game.

• UNCG: The Spartans will give the ball to Jake Mayhew, who will make his fifth appearance (fourth start of the year). Mayhew last appeared in relief on March 18 against Lipscomb, allowing two runs in 0.1 innings. He last started on March 10 against Lafayette, yielding two runs on four hits in 3.1 frames.

The Last One: High Point earned its second Big South series victory to open conference play by taking two of three from Radford over the weekend. The Panther swept a doubleheader on Friday, 7-3 and 15-6, before falling in the finale, 18-6.

Junior Conner Dunbar led the offensive charge with seven hits in the 10 games as HPU racked up 37 hits in 25 innings at the dish. Senior Jordan Sergent delivered the go-ahead two-run double in the fifth inning. Redshirt-junior Jonny Vizcaino delivered on the mound with four scoreless innings of relief.

In the nightcap, High Point scored multiple runs in five innings and pounded out 14 hits, including a season-high three home runs. Senior Hunter Lee matched a career-best with four RBI's and senior Carson Jackson drove in three with both players recording a home run.

On Sunday, High Point got an early 1-0 lead on a solo homer from senior Austen Zente, but ceded 15 straight runs over the next six innings. Dunbar had two hits and two RBI's.

Wild Weather = Wild Schedule: For the fifth time in six weekends, High Point had to alter its weekend schedule due to weather. The Panthers have now played five doubleheaders (one scheduled) and gone 6-4 in such occasions. Of HPU's 11 scheduled home games, only one has been played at the original time.

The Bats Awaken: After a slow start in the opening weekend against JMU (.182 team average), High Point's offense has clicked on all cylinders for the most part. HPU has a team average of .297 in the last 20 games and has posted double-digit hits 15 times, including 11 of the last 14. The Panthers are tops in the league in batting average (.283) and third in runs (150).

Lean on Lee: Senior Hunter Lee enters Tuesday's game on a team season-best 15-game hitting streak. During the stretch, Lee is 24-for-61 (.393) with six multi-hit games and 15 RBI. The senior has proven to come through in the clutch with five two-out RBI, four go-ahead RBI, and four game-winning RBI. Lee tied his career highs in hits (4) and runs (3) on Wednesday against NCCU.

Picking Up Steam: Lee is one of many members of the HPU lineup that have seen their bats heat up recently. Freshman Travis Holt and senior Austen Zente are both riding hitting streak of at least five straight games entering Tuesday.

Up Next: The Panthers return home for a conference series with Winthrop that begins on Thursday at 6 p.m., continues on Friday at 6 p.m. and wraps up on Saturday at 1 p.m.
