HIGH POINT, N.C.—The High Point University women's lacrosse team (16-3) faces No. 1 Maryland (19-0) in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Sunday (May 14) at noon at the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex in College Park, Md.

The winner of the game will move on to the quarterfinals against the winner of Stony Brook and Northwestern next weekend.

• High Point advanced to the second round after defeating No. 18 Towson, 21-15, Friday in College Park, Md. It was HPU's first NCAA tournament win in any sport and the Panthers' first win over a ranked opponent since 2012 (No. 19 Navy).

• The Panthers have won a school-record 16 games in a row, which is tied for the second-longest active win streak in the nation with UMass. Maryland has won 19 in a row to lead the nation.

Samantha Brown was named the Big South Offensive Player of the Year. Brown has had one of the most prolific offensive seasons in Panther history, leading the team with 86 points on 61 goals and 25 assists.

Christina Del Sesto was named Big South Defensive Player of the Year. Del Sesto anchors the Panther defense that has held Big South opponents to 6.00 goals a game. She has 30 caused turnovers this season, which is tied for the team lead with junior
Erica Perrotta, and is the second-most in HPU single-season history and three shy of the school record.

Lyndsey Boswell was named Big South Coach of the Year for the third time in four years and the fourth overall time in her career.

Ashley Britton has set a program record for most draw controls in a season with 61. Sophomore
Samantha Herman is second on that same list with 55 draw controls this season.

Darla Poulin has 78 points on 54 goals and 24 assists. The 54 goals is the second-most in HPU single-season history, while the 78 points is tied for third.

Jill Rall is 15-0 in the cage this season for the Panthers and her 15 wins has tied the single-season HPU record

• High Point had eight student-athletes earn All-Big South honors. Brown, Del Sesto and Britton, Perrotta and Herman were named to the all-conference first team. Juniors

Olivia Nostrant and Rall were named to the All-Big South Second Team, while Brown was the Purple and White's representative on the Big South All-Academic Team.

On the Terps
• Maryland (19-0) won the Big Ten Championship to automatically qualify for the NCAA Tournament and ran through the Big Ten regular season undefeated for the third-consecutive year. It is the first-ever meeting between High Point and Maryland in women's lacrosse.
