HIGH POINT, N.C.—The High Point University women's lacrosse team faces Towson in the NCAA Tournament First Round Friday (May 12) at 4 p.m. at the University of Maryland's Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex in College Park, Md.

The winner of the game will go on to face the No. 1 overall seed, Maryland, on Sunday at noon.

• High Point advanced to the NCAA Tournament by way of winning the Big South Championship with a 19-5 victory over Campbell last Sunday (May 7) at Vert Stadium in High Point, N.C.

• The Panthers have won a school-record 15 games in a row, which is tied for the second-longest active win streak in the nation with UMass. Maryland has won 19 in a row to lead the nation.

Samantha Brown was named the Big South Offensive Player of the Year. Brown has had one of the most prolific offensive seasons in Panther history, leading the team with 79 points on 57 goals and 22 assists.

• Brown's 57 goals is an HPU single-season record, while her 79 points is two shy of the program single-season record (Mackenzie Carroll – 81 in 2014).

• Brown is third all-time in HPU history with 165 points, fourth in assists with 58 and two goals shy of cracking the top five with 107 career scores.

Christina Del Sesto was named Big South Defensive Player of the Year. Del Sesto anchors the Panther defense that has held Big South opponents to 6.00 goals a game. Her 30 caused turnovers this season is the second-most in HPU single-season history and three shy of the school record.

Lyndsey Boswell was named Big South Coach of the Year for the third time in four years and the fourth overall time in her career.

Ashley Britton has set a program record for most draw controls in a season with 60. Sophomore
Samantha Herman is third on that same list with 51 draw controls this season.

Darla Poulin has 70 points on 48 goals and 22 assists. The 48 goals is the third-most in HPU single-season history, while the 70 points ranks fifth.

Jill Rall is 14-0 in the cage this season for the Panthers and is one win shy of the Panthers' single-season record.

• High Point had eight student-athletes earn All-Big South honors. Brown, Del Sesto and Britton were named to the all-conference first team, along with junior

• The Panthers have set single-season team records for points (437), assists (150), shots (651), shots on goal (473) and caused turnovers (230) and have tied the team record for wins in a season with 15. High Point is three goals shy of the team single-season record of 290.

On the Tigers
• Towson (12-6) qualified for the tournament as an at-large bid. The Tigers finished 4-2 in the Colonial Athletic Association and advanced to the semifinals of the CAA Tournament. It is the first-ever meeting between High Point and Towson in women's lacrosse.
