PAW PRINTS
• With a win, HPU would advance to the Big South final for the third time in four seasons. The Panthers would take on the winner of No. 1 Winthrop vs. No. 4 Coastal Carolina.
• High Point is 2-1 all-time in the Big South semifinals. HPU defeated Longwood (17-7) in Davidson, N.C., in 2013 and upended Winthrop (17-8) in Vert Stadium in 2014. The Panthers fell at Winthrop (11-10) last season at Eagle Field.
• Last time out, the Panthers rolled past Gardner-Webb, 19-2, in quarterfinal action on Apr. 30 in Vert Stadium. HPU scored the first 11 goals and shut the Runnin' Bulldogs out in the second half.
• Sophomore
Brooke Stevens posted career highs in points (4) and goals (3), while junior
Samantha Brown added four points (2g, 2a) in the win over GWU.
• With the victory, HPU improved to 20-0 all-time against Big South foes at home, including a 5-0 mark in Big South Tournament play.
• The win over GWU improved High Point to 3-0 all-time as the Big South Tournament's No. 2 seed. HPU swept two games at Davidson as the No. 2 seed in 2013 en route to an NCAA berth
• The victory also upped HPU's record to 7-1 all time in Big South Tournament contests.
• With two goals against the Camels, senior
Allie Foard will become the sixth player in program history to reach the 100-goal milestone. Fellow senior
Emily Meier is six goals away from 100. Both Foard (98g, 35a) and Meier (94g, 58a) are two of nine players in program history to score 100 career points.
• Meier - who currently has 152 career points - needs six more points to pass Sarah Kuhlman (2011-14) and move into third place on the all-time HPU points list.
• HPU tied the school record for league wins in a season in 2015-16 with seven. The Panthers also reached the 12-win plateau for the fourth time in six seasons.Â
• The Panthers have posted a 38-5 mark (.884) in conference play over the program's first six seasons. That percentage ranks in the top-10 in the nation over that span.
• The Panthers set a new school-record with eight Big South selections in 2016. Five HPU student-athletes were named to the All-Big South First Team - the most of any school in the league.
• Head coach
Lyndsey Boswell was named Big South Coach of the Year for the second time in three seasons. She shared the honor in 2016 with Winthrop's John Sung. Boswell has earned conference coach of the year accolades in three of HPU's first six campaigns.
