LEXINGTON, S.C. – The High Point University baseball team takes on No. 3 Longwood on Thursday, May 26, at 3 p.m., in Lexington, S.C., with a spot in the Big South Semifinals on the line.
High Point advanced past No. 6 Winthrop on Wednesday with a 6-2 win over the Eagles in an elimination game.
Junior
Andre Scrubb pitched 6-1/3 innings and allowed two earned runs to improve to 8-6 on the season. The right-hander allowed seven hits and five walks and struck out four in the contest.
Senior
Dominic Fazio finished the game 2-3 at the plate with a walk, a home run, three RBI and two runs scored. Sophomores

Carson Jackson all finished with two hits with both Lee and Zente recording an RBI and a run scored.
Longwood lost to No. 7 Liberty in a winners' bracket contest by a score of 9-3 on Wednesday night. The loss drops the Lancers to 31-26 overall for the season. It is the team's first 30-win season in the Div. I era. Second-team All-Big South selection Alex Lewis is tops on the team with a .353 batting average and 43 RBI while fellow second-team selection Connar Bastaich is hitting .335 with 38 runs scored. High Point took the season series against Longwood, two game to one, at Williard Stadium. The Lancers took the first game, by a score of 4-3 behind a strong performance by Burnette but HPU bounced back with a 7-2 win on Saturday and a series-clinching 2-1 win on Sunday. All three Panther starters on the mound set new career-highs in strikeouts in the three game series.
