HIGH POINT, N.C. – High Point University pitcher Scot Hoffman and runner Natalia Ocasio have been named the Lindsay Properties HPU Student-Athletes of the Week.
 
Pitching against No. 21-ranked Coastal Carolina on Saturday, Hoffman posted career highs in innings pitched (8-1/3) and strikeouts (9). The redshirt-senior didn't permit a run until the ninth inning and finished the day allowing two earned runs on four hits while walking two. The win improved the right-hander to 4-3 on the year.
 
Ocasio spent the first three laps near the back of the pack in Virginia, then began to strategically work her way up through a deep and talented field. The strong race earned her a sixth-place finish in the heat and 15th overall in one of the strongest steeple events in the nation. Ocasio's excellent time of 10:29.27 is second best in Big South history and ranks No. 26 in the NCAA East Region this season.
 
HPU student-athlete of the week honors will be given to one male and one female High Point University student-athlete each Monday throughout the 2015-16 academic year.
