HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University women's track & field team splits up for a pair of important meets this weekend throughout the Carolinas.

HPU's heptathletes  - senior Sara Katherine Kirkpatrick and junior Erika Bridges - will enjoy a good opportunity to showcase their talents at the Winthrop Combined Events March 25 and 26 in Rock Hill, S.C. Live stats for the meet will be made available via Mitchell Timing. Action begins Friday at 2 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m.

Meanwhile, a select group of student-athletes heads east on I-40 to compete in the prestigious Raleigh Relays Friday and Saturday. The meet will be streamed live on ESPN3 on both Friday and Saturday and can be accessed on a mobile device via the WatchESPN app.

With some of the nation's top track & field talent descending upon NC State for the annual meet, fast track paces and strong field event depth will provide the opportunity for collegiate bests and NCAA Preliminary qualifying marks.

The Panthers will put a pair of distance runners on the track Friday in competitive races. Junior Cozette Collin races in the 1500m run Friday at 5:15 p.m. while fellow junior Natalia Ocasio will suit up for her 2016 debut in the 3000m steeplechase at 5:25 p.m.

Ocasio won the event at the 2015 Big South Outdoor Championship and set a new school record in the event (10:36.64) at last season's Duke Twilight. The Mount Laurel, N.J., native will begin her quest for an NCAA preliminary berth Friday.

Also on Friday, sophomore Makenzi Holmes-DiGiovine will compete in the discus throw at 11 a.m. Holmes-DiGiovine returns to the arena Saturday to compete in the hammer throw (1 p.m.) alongside senior Jamie Schnuck. Schnuck broke her own school record in the hammer with a mark of 52.47m (172-2) at last weekend's Wake Forest Open.

Saturday's action also will include a trio of Panther pole vaulters, including seniors Jill Marois and Alyssa Palenchar as well as junior Madison Depner. After being rained out in Winston-Salem last weekend, the group is ready to begin its outdoor season in Raleigh.

After this weekend's events, HPU will return to the Triad to host the annual VertKlasse Meeting April 1-2 inside Vert Stadium.
