CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Sophomore
Carson Jackson of the High Point University baseball team has been named the Big South Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday. Jackson hit .444 with four extra base hits and six RBI to help the Panthers earn a sweep against UNC Asheville.

Jackson went 8-18 at the plate with a double, two triples and a home run as High Point went 3-1, including a three-game sweep on the road at UNC Asheville to open Big South play. He led the Panthers with six RBI and four runs scored and stole his sixth base of the season.

The sophomore first baseman has started all 20 games this season and is hitting .338 with six doubles, two triples and two home runs. He is second on the team with 16 RBI and is tied for second with 15 runs scored. Jackson is slugging a team-best .538 and is also a perfect six for six in stolen base attempts

This is the first Big South weekly award for the Panthers this season and the first-ever for Jackson. It is also the first Big South Player of the Year recognition received by a High Point player since
Dane McDermott earned the honor on April 7, 2014.

High Point will travel down I-40 on Tuesday, March 22, to take on inter-Triad rival Elon in the fifth and final game of the Panthers' current road swing. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
