Last time out, the Panthers dropped a heartbreaker at Virginia Tech, 14-13, in overtime on Feb. 21 in Blacksburg.

The Panthers led 9-6 at the half and 11-6 five minutes into the second stanza, but the Hokies played excellent defense down the stretch in the second half and executed the game winning goal a minute into the overtime session.

Emily Meier added five points on two goals and three assists, while fellow senior
Allie Foard notched four goals and picked up four ground balls on the day.

UPCOMING SCHEDULEHigh Point opened the 2016 season against a pair of ACC teams, but will now face a variety of tests that includes teams from the CAA (No. 21 JMU, Feb. 28; Elon, March 22), BIG EAST (Villanova, Mar. 2), MPSF (at Oregon, March 7), Atlantic 10 (at Davidson, March 11) and Big Ten (Michigan, March 13).

A LOOK AT THE DUKESNo. 21 James Madison has put together a 2-1 record in three games this season. The Dukes dropped their season opener to then-No. 2 North Carolina (11-7) and fell at Connecticut (12-10) on Feb. 21. JMU defeated Virginia Tech, 18-5, on Feb. 18.

The Dukes were picked to win the CAA in the league's 2016 preseason poll, behind a trio of All-CAA selections. JMU represented the CAA in the 2015 NCAA Tournament after winning the conference tournament. Senior attack and preseason All-CAA selection Betsy Angel leads the team in points (10) while preseason CAA Player of the Year Jaci Gordon has posted eight points (6g, 2a). Sophomore midfielder Elena Romesburg has grabbed a team-high 11 draw controls while sophomore goalkeeper Kaitlin Martindale has posted a 9.60 goals against average and .333 save percentage.

HISTORY vs. JAMES MADISONSunday's game marks the second ever matchup between the Panthers and Dukes. JMU won the first meeting, 16-8, on Feb. 23, 2015 in Harrisonburg.
Allie Foard led the Purple & White with three points (1g, 2a) in the contest.

NEXT UPHPU remains in Vert Stadium to battle Villanova on March 2 (6 p.m.). The Panthers will look to avenge an 11-10, triple overtime loss to the Wildcats last season in Philadelphia.
