Andre ScrubbHIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University baseball team will try to even its weekend series against Marist when the two teams meet at Williard Stadium on Saturday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m. The Panthers fell to the Red Foxes by a score of 8-6 in the opener on Friday.

Andre Scrubb will get the start for HPU on the mound. Scrubb is 0-1 on the season after losing in he first start at UNCG. The right-hander lasted just four innings and gave up eight runs, seven earned, on 10 hits and two walks while striking out three. Last season, Scrubb went 6-1 with a 2.50 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 54 innings of work. Sophomore left-hander Charlie Jerla will get the ball for Marist. Jerla gave up four earned runs on five hits and a walk with four strikeouts in five innings of work in his first start.
High Point was unable to overcome a five-run third inning on Friday against Marist. The Panthers led, 3-0, after two innings and gave up eight-straight runs before scoring three times in the final three innings.

Hoffman dropped to 0-2 on the season after giving up six runs, four earned on six hits and a walk while striking out five. Junior
Jeremy Johnson pitched a season-high 3-1/3 innings of relief, allowing two unearned runs on four hits and a walk while striking out four.
