HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University baseball team returns home hoping to avoid a sweep in its season-opening home-and-home weekend series with UNCG on Sunday, Feb. 21, at 1 p.m.

The Panthers dropped the series with a 13-5 loss to UNCG in Greensboro on Saturday.Â
The Spartans scored in five of the first six innings and led 12-1 heading into the seventh. HPU's one run came from sophomore
Spencer Brown who doubled to lead off the third inning and scored when sophomore
Austen Zente was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Â
High Point added two runs in the eighth and two runs in the ninth to bring the final score to 13-5. Seniors
Dominic Fazio and
Tim Mansfield reached on a double and a walk to lead off the eighth and both came around to score on an RBI double by sophomore
Carson Jackson. In the ninth, the Panthers loaded the bases on singles by Fazio and redshirt-sophomore
Zach Vandergrift and a hit batter before junior
Drew Fopeano delivered a pinch-hit single to drive in two runs.
Â
Fazio recorded three hits for the second-straight game, giving him six hits in his first eight at bats of 2016. Jackson finished 2-4 with a double and two RBI and junior
