HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men's basketball team returns to action on Tuesday, Dec. 6, when the team takes on the Commodores of Vanderbilt University at Memorial Gym in Nashville, Tenn.
Tip-off between the Panthers and Commodores is set for 7 p.m. CST. Kevin Burke will be back on the call on the High Point Panthers Radio Network, with pre-game coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m.
PAW PRINTS
• The Panthers are coming off a 78-72 home loss to Drexel on Saturday. HPU and Drexel traded the lead six times in the second half before the Dragons pulled away late, going 6-6 at the free throw line.
• High Point posted its best comeback in the Div. I era in its 62-61 win at Morgan State on Nov. 28. The Panthers trailed by as much as 20 points midway through the second half before outscoring MSU, 31-10, over the final nine-plus minutes. High Point's previous largest comeback was 18 points against Birmingham Southern in 2004.
• Senior
Anthony Lindauer hit the game-winning 3-pointer from 30 feet against Morgan State. It was the first buzzer beater for the Purple & White since 2009 when High Point won at Presbyterian College, 63-61, on a Tehran Cox layup.
• Sophomore
Andre Fox is fifth in the Big South in scoring (16.0 ppg). He has posted 20+ points in four of eight games, second in the conference.
• Redshirt-senior
Miles Bowman Jr. is one of 14 players nationally with five double-doubles in 2016-17. He leads the Big South and is 37th nationally in rebounds/game (9.8).
• High Point struggled from the free throw line through the first five games of the season, shooting .638 (74-116). That changed over the past three games as the Purple & White has shot .776 (59-76) in games against Clemson, Morgan State and Drexel. Bowman leads the Big South and ranks 18th in the nation in free throw percentage at .931 (27-29).
• Freshman point guard
Jamal Wright is third in the Big South in assists per game (3.5) and has dished out 28 assists while committing just 15 turnovers (1.9 A/TO ratio, 3rd in BSC).
• The Panthers are second in the Big South in scoring defense (68.9 ppg) and have limited opponents to 62 or fewer points in all four wins in 2016-17.
HISTORY vs. VANDERBILT
High Point and Vanderbilt have met just once all-time with the Commodores taking the win. The two teams faced off on Dec. 15, 2002 in Nashville, Tenn., and Vanderbilt came away with the 81-75 win.
HISTORY vs. SEC OPPONENTS
The Panthers are 0-13 all-time against SEC opponents with three losses against Florida and Kentucky, two losses to Auburn and Georgia and one loss to South Carolina, Arkansas and Vanderbilt. HPU faced two SEC squads last season as the Panthers took on Georgia during the regular season and South Carolina in the first round of the NIT. High Point lost by just three to the Bulldogs, HPU's slimmest margin in a game against an SEC team.

John Brown finished with 13 and 11 respectively. In the NIT, High Point fell to the Gamecocks by a score of 88-66.
Austin White led the team with a career-high 15 points and
Andre Fox chipped in with 10 points for the Purple & White.
A LOOK AT THE COMMODORES (4-4, 0-0 SEC)
Vanderbilt enters the week with a 4-4 mark on the season following a 56-52 loss to Minnesota in Sioux Falls, S.D., on Saturday. The Commodores feature a balanced scoring attack with four players averaging double figures, led by Matthew Fisher-Davis who is averaging 14.4 points per game. Luke Kornet (13.8 PPG), Jeff Roberson (10.8 PPG) and Riley LaChance (10.1 PPG) all join Fisher-Davis in averaging double figures. Vandy is a very good shooting team from the outside, firing at a .398 clip (74-186) from three. Fisher-Davis (.426) and LaChance (.679) are the top two sharpshooters for the Commodores. LaChance also leads the team in assists with 4.4 per game while Roberson is averaging a team-high 8.0 rebounds per game.
