HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men's basketball hosts Ferrum at the Millis Center on Sunday, Dec. 11, in the first of two-straight home games for the Panthers. 
 
Tip-off in the Battle of the Panthers is set for 2 p.m. Kevin Burke and Stafford Stephenson will be back on the call on the High Point Panthers Radio Network, with pre-game coverage beginning at 1:30 p.m.
 
PAW PRINTS
• The Panthers set a new HPU Div. I record for 3-point shooting percentage in a loss at Vanderbilt on Tuesday, going 12-15 (.800) from behind the arc in the 90-63 loss. The team shattered the previous record of .688 (11-16) set in 2012 against Charleston Southern. The 12 3-pointers are also tied for eighth-most in the Div. I era.
 
• After going 12-15 from three at Vanderbilt, the Panthers sit atop the Big South and are ranked 31st in the nation in 3-point shooting at 40.3 percent.
 
•  High Point posted its best comeback in the Div. I era in its 62-61 win at Morgan State on Nov. 28. The Panthers trailed by as much as 20 points midway through the second half before outscoring MSU, 31-10, over the final nine-plus minutes. High Point's previous largest comeback was 18 points against Birmingham Southern in 2004.
 
•  Senior Anthony Lindauer hit the game-winning 3-pointer from 30 feet against Morgan State. It was the first buzzer beater for the Purple & White since 2009 when High Point won at Presbyterian College, 63-61, on a Tehran Cox layup.
 
•  Sophomore Andre Fox is seventh in the Big South in scoring (14.6 ppg). He has posted 20+ points in four games so far this season, third most in the conference.
 
•  Redshirt-senior Miles Bowman Jr. is one of 21 players nationally with five double-doubles in 2016-17. He leads the Big South and is 44th nationally in rebounds/game (9.3).
 
• High Point struggled from the free throw line through the first five games of the season, shooting .638 (74-116). That changed over the past four games as the Purple & White has shot .783 (72-92) in games against Clemson, Morgan State, Drexel and Vanderbilt. Bowman is third in the Big South and 41st in the nation in free throw percentage at .902 (37-41).
 
• Freshman point guard Jamal Wright is third in the Big South in assists per game (3.6) and has dished out 32 assists while committing just 21 turnovers (1.5 A/TO ratio, 3rd in BSC).
 
HISTORY vs. FERRUM
High Point is undefeated in five meetings with Ferrum, winning those contests by an average of 36.8 points per game. The two teams last met in 2014 when the Purple & White picked up a 106-48 win at the Millis Center. Five different players finished in double figures, led by then-sophomore Anthony Lindauer who put up 19 points on 5-6 shooting with a 3-3 mark from behind the arc. 
 
HISTORY vs. USA SOUTH OPPONENTS
The Panthers are 21-1 all-time against USA South opponents. High Point is 7-1 against Greensboro College, 5-0 against Ferrum, 2-0 against Averett, Covenant and Piedmont and 1-0 against William Peace, North Carolina Wesleyan and Methodist. HPU's only loss against a USA South team came in 1992. The Purple & White opened this season with a 74-41 win over Averett. Anthony Lindauer had 16 points, Andre Fox had 14 and Miles Bowman Jr., registered a double-double in just 15 minutes with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
 
A LOOK AT THE PANTHERS (4-4, 0-0 USA SOUTH)
Ferrum is 4-4 through the first eight games of the 2016-17 season, including wins in two of its last three games. Josh Dudley is tops on the team in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 15 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Two other players are averaging double figures in scoring with Josh Grimard averaging 11.1 points and a team-high 1.5 blocks and Rashad Reed is averaging 10.3 points off the bench. D'Andre Dullen is tops on the team in assists with 3.5 per game.
 
UP NEXT
HPU continues its two-game home stand against North Carolina Wesleyan on Friday, Dec. 16. It is the Panthers final non-Div. I game and the final non-conference home game of the season. Tip-off for the game is set for 7 p.m.
